The collection includes a large section of miscellaneous correspondence (mainly 19th century) covering a wide range of topics. Many of the correspondents are well known local figures (e.g. Rev. Francis Close; Dorothea Beale) and a few are of national significance (e.g. the Earl of Ellenborough).
